Remember when you first got some Magic cards?
It was like putting together some Legos. No real set of instructions or even card sleeves. Just whatever you had left laying around. If you were lucky, maybe your best friend knew the rules… Well, most of them.
Now theres’ so many subdivisions of the game. Drafts, EDH, Standard, Legacy and even Modern. Not to mention keeping up with rotation or the ban lists. Even trading cards has become a game in itself. As we grow older with the game, it suddenly doesn’t feel like the same stack of cards we started with, does it?
So whenever you feel like you’re burnt out from the game because of the higher cost of entry or just growing frustrated with some of the people in the community, just remember, you don’t have to play like everyone else.
Find ways to enjoy the game with your close friends and free yourself from the anxiety and pressure of playing with the best cards, best deck, foils, etc. You don’t have to trap yourself. Throw away the deck lists, bookmarks, and instructions.
Remember to play for fun again.
