What’s up folks! I’m still alive and I’m just gearing up for some surprises next week.
There was a brief time where I got into Yu-Gi-Oh during college. It lasted about a good 2 years before I flat out quit the game since a lot of my friends started to move on to other things. During my time playing it, I used to play competitively at weekly tournaments at Shinders and various other stores in the Minneapolis area.
I initially got into the game by some Japanese foreign exchange students and started off with a Japanese Structure deck. So while I wasn’t able to fluently read the cards (most of it was memorization), I had insight of the meta for about a good 9-12 months ahead of time.
Since I collected so much of the Japanese cards, I started to notice some small differences on some of the art, which is something I wanted to share with you guys.
While I understand this is a children’s card game and theres a HUGE difference in culture and sex, some of these alters are flat out sad. Here in America, we shun even a small nipple slip or heaven forbid a breast, but walking around with a gun killing people on TV is A-Ok. I mean we’re living in a generation where parents are completely ignoring M-rated games for their 10 year olds. They freak out the moment they see a sex shop near their house, but they leave their kids on the internet unmonitored… God forbid if they have a data plan on their smart phones.
Here’s just a small sample of some of the extreme alters made for the international release of the game.
